Endorsed Awards
Several nationally competitive and prestigious awards have a two-part application process. Before students and alums can apply in the national competition, they must first apply in their campus competition to gain the nomination or endorsement. Applicants should, therefore, put their best foot forward for the campus competition. Campus application deadlines for this endorsement may be anywhere from four weeks to four or more months before the national deadline.
The University Fellowship Office (UFO) can help interested applicants prepare their campus/endorsement applications, as well as help, endorsed applicants with their applications to the national competition. If you are interested in applying for a nationally competitive award that also requires an endorsement, please meet with UFO staff as soon as possible and before you actually begin working on your application.
Below are the awards that currently require either a full endorsement or have conditionally required endorsement, along with links to their respective program websites. Application instructions, including deadlines, are within those pages.
- Boren Awards/NSEP (strongly encouraged and required for a campus representative evaluation)
- Goldwater Scholarship

In order to submit an endorsement application, you must submit your materials by the campus application deadline posted with our online submission form (contact us for the link). Please be sure to look at the online submission form before you are ready to submit to make sure everything is formatted correctly.
Your recommenders will also need to submit their letters of recommendation by the campus application deadline with a different online submission form (contact us for the link). If there are specific guidelines for letters for an award, we will post that information on the award’s web page.
